Ploiesti is the capital City of Prahova County, situated in the North part of Romanian Plane. It is one of the big cities in Romania and an important communication junction (roads and railways). In 1599 the town became a trade center for the both plane villages and towns and the North region of hills and mountains. In august 1870 there was an attempt to depose King Carol I by the inhabitants of Ploiesti lead by Major Candiano Popescu. In early 20th century important strikes hit the town, the most important being in 1933 when the oil workers protested against the economic decline. The surrounding area is very reach in oil, several oil refineries being in the near by Ploiesti. Heavy booming destroyed most of the city in 1944.

Campina is a small city situated on the left side of Prahova River. In the 16th century here was the custom point on the way to Transylvania. 17th century found the city as a prosperous trade city in the Pre Carpathians Hills. In 1895 here is built the largest refinery in Europe.

The Royal Peles Castle. It was built during 1875-1883; there can be recognized different architectonic styles, German Renaissance elements prevail and also Gothic style. The architects have used everything to give splendor and content to the construction, wood decoration is in abundance in the interior and also exterior to confer to the castle a special air. Situated in a beautiful park with gorgeous terraces, Peles Castle has 160 rooms and halls where can be seen different ornamental objects, Oriental carpets, fine ivory sculptures, tapestries, furniture, weapon collections (15th - 19th centuries) and paintings. The most impressive rooms are: the Hall of Honor, the large Weapon Room (with objects from India, Persia, Turkey, Arabia), the Council Room (Swiss colored glass window, 16th - 17th centuries), the Music Room, the Florentine Room, the Mirror Room, the Moorish Room (with a collection inspired by the Spanish Alhambra Palace), the Turkish Drawing-Room, the Theater Room.

Barsa Country Brasov geological depression is the largest in Carpathians and host Tara Barsei ethnographic area. The historic evidence tells us about the long and continuously inhabitation of this region, ever since the Stone Age. Romanians at the beginning, Hungarians and Germans lived together this rich region. Next to the mountains houses are similar to mountain region; wooden on a stone basis, 2 rooms, kitchen, and no porch, some of them with inner yard. In the lower part, where Germans settled the houses are made of stone or brick, being influenced by Brasov, churches are fortified. (Prejner, Harman, Feldioara) Inside the beads have a shelf for cloths, “brasovenean” dowry box, and painted furniture.

Brasov is the 4th city in Romania, the largest in the Carpathians. Situated in Brasov geological depression it is an important economical center, along with the surrounding cities. The first name of the city was Corona (1234), in the Middle Ages being an important trade city, with connections to Western Europe and with the orient. Well fortified it holds to Turk’s invasions over the years.
The most important tourist attractions are: The Black church (the largest Gothic church in SE Europe), Council square, rope street (the narrowest in Romania)

Rupea is a small town situated in South East Transylvania at the half distance between Brasov and Sighisoara. On town territory there where found traces of inhabitation since the Stone Age. (tools, pottery…) On an old Dacian settlement called by the Roman Rupes the medieval village was born, first mentioned in a document in1324. In the middle ages it was a trade town, commercial and crafts shops. Between 19th and 20th century Rupea was famous for its 4 annual fairs. The most important thing to see is the ruins of the stronghold, built in deferent periods, 13th - 17th century.

Lunch at Sighisoara

Sighisoara is the most interesting town in Romania, being lived continuous since the stone ages, today the only fortified town still dwelt in Eastern Europe. In 1280 the town’s name (Castrum Sex) appears in a document given by the Pope. Here in 1433 Vlad Impeller son of Vlad Dracul is born. The house where this new king was born, better known as Dracula still can be seen. The town has a 930 m wall and had 14 defending towers. The most important, the Clock Tower hosts the history museum. From the top the view is spectacular.
